SuitsThe Traditional Man's Guide to Wearing Gucci
As modeled by Tom Hiddleston
If you're not ready to start dressing like Jared Leto on his most out-there day, the thought of dressing in head-to-toe Gucci may give you pause. Especially this summer, when the luxury fashion label has been wooing us with embroidered bomber jackets, beaded velvet loafers, and formalwear that looks made for a cross between Hugh Hefner and Willy Wonka. Don't get us wrong, we love every crazy bit of it, but we also know it's not for every guy. Luckily, for every Jared Leto in the fashion world, there is also a Tom Hiddleston. Both men are talented actors, and both have consistent style personas of equal importance.
That's why we're so psyched to see Tom Hiddleston out in the world in a Gucci suit that's so distinctly un-crazy. The actor wore his subtly window-paned warm gray suit to a SAG-AFTRA Foundation panel discussion for The Night Manager on Friday in Los Angeles. This is the suit of a leading man, perhaps, set to embody James Bond. It was pure elegance right down to his plain toe dress shoes and the color of the socks—burgundy to match Hiddleston's tie. Like the very notion of James Bond, Hiddleston's outfit was cut to perfection, not a button or a dot out of place, his hair too included. Gucci kills it in the details, whether they're bright and raucous or the epitome of quiet luxury. So take your pick, are you swervy or sophisticated? Or, maybe don't choose at all. Who says you can't be Jared Leto on the weekend and Tom Hiddleston come Monday morning?
