Fall TrendsIt Might Be Time to Say So Long to Skinny Jeans
Your jeans are about to get a lot more relaxed.
Every day of every month at GQ, we start your morning on Instagram with visual advice on What to Wear Today. But we want to go deeper. Give you the nuts and bolts of how to get the look into your wardrobe. Today we're giving you a head's up on fall's new denim silhouette. Finally you can put away your skinny jeans.
It's been a slow process, but we are finally seeing a move away from the popular skinny jeans or yore. This fall, the jeans to cop are looser, bigger, and much easier to put on. They made a big splash this summer as men embraced pants made of lighter, worn-in denim that actually breathes, and silhouettes that allow for air flow from ankle to hip. And moving into fall we're seeing wider leg jeans in a whole host of fabrics and style inspirations from patch-worked indigo pairs to skateboard classics in cut-off, cropped hems.
Because they're relaxed, they're also pretty easy to style with other pieces. We've seen guys wearing them with a tucked-in graphic tee or summer's hottest shirts in bright Hawaiian prints. One thing's for sure—they look great with other casual pieces like scuffed up Chuck Taylor's and a well-worn cloth tote bag. Keep the whole thing from getting too sloppy with slick shades a shiny silver bracelet and your favorite silver watch.
