A subtlely stylish spin on the SK8-Hi finally hits Pac Sun shelves.
Way back in January, Fear Of God's Jerry Lorenzo told us to expect a new collaboration with Vans (as a part of his PacSun-exclusive diffusion line F.O.G.) to hit stores in August. Today, Lorenzo delivered on his promise when PacSun announced that the collaborative SK8-Hi style landed in select stores across the country. An FOG-level Vans Era, also seen below in an eye-catching Fear Of God allover print, is expected to hit stores in October.
Both pairs may look like just a couple fresh colorways of classic Vans style, but Lorenzo made sure to go the extra mile by utilizing the 50th anniversary silhouettes of both the Era and Sk8-Hi (officially named the SK8-Hi 38 Reissue). In addition to having an off-white toe box and tongue, the rubber midsole on the style extends higher up the shoe than on the pairs you'll usually see. To Lorenzo, the smaller toe box effect created by the bigger sole simply looks cooler than on the mass market versions. We might agree, but maybe Lorenzo just has a thing for big ass soles on sneakers. (See: Fear Of God's mainline "Military Sneaker" that hit stores last months and sold out overnight, even with an $1100 price tag.)
Logo-happy fans will have to wait till Fall to scoop up the low-tops, but if you're the type of guy who wants immediate gratification, the SK8-Hi is actually our preferred method of stunting. And thanks to their muted design, they won't look out of place in gear other than Fear Of God or F.O.G. In fact, with the skater look now in full effect across the menswear world (and Vans are seemingly more popular than ever), you may have just found the perfect fit for your new, more chilled-out fitting jeans or trousers. Just make sure you get to your local PacSun soon before these rarified kicks are sold out.
$100 (for Sk-8 Hi), available now in stores and available soon at pacsun.com
