Africa has come of age and fashion has become an integral part of this great continent, however, most fashion events were mere shows and this trend is fast changing.
With the whole world making so much money from clothing and the fact that South Africa still  remains the only outlet to world class fashion weeks with buyers ,world class models, and great production crew, certain group of people from the ecowas region got together to start preparation for what is now set to be one of the biggest fashion weeks in the world.

There is no doubt that fashion contributes to every economy of the world. The fashion industry contributes 25percent to the US economy. In the UK,fashion contributes almost 21 billion pounds to the British economy. In Africa, there is no record to the contribution. Moreover,it a known fact that fashion has come to stay.In testimony whereof, ankara and other local fabrics are now used in the production of clothing ,bags ,shoes and other accessories worldwide.
ECOWAS FASHION WEEK is an idea whose time has come and we must give credit to those behind this great venture.
The  president of ECOWAS His Execellency Kadre Desire Quedraogo from Bukina Faso has a vision and when he took over he made it clear that his tunure will focus on sme’s and the youth who are the life wire of any great economy.
With this fashion week, organisers are looking forward to put our youth to work through out the ecowas region thereby preventing these urge by youth to go to western world even if they die doing it.
The recent death of an ivorian youth who set himself on fire in  paris is a terrible reminder of why we must by any means neccessary fix the African continent.
However,we hope to set up industries that can give room to mass production of these items and have them sold in shops all over the world.
Recently the fahion industry in Ghana got a boost from the swiss government with the some of 3.5 million dollars.Which way Africa?Ecowas the time is now.
Designers are already registering for the fashion week and the EFW team will soon start going from one ecowas country to the other to meet models and designers.
