MusicDrake Does Half of His New Video 'Childs Play' With Cheesecake All Over His Face
The 12-minute video also features Tyra Banks
We're living in a world of visual albums, and Drake has finally made a contribution with his 12-minute long video for "Childs Play", a video that is more scene than song. Yet Drake spends half the song singing with cheesecake all over his face, due to a lengthy opening scene with none other than Tyra Banks in a triumphant acting return.
Drake is in the bathroom of an elegant dining room that we are supposed to believe is a Cheesecake Factory ("Nicest one of these I've seen," Drake mutters in the opening scene which, um, yes) and suddenly realizes that he didn't bring his phone with him which definitely means that his girlfriend will be reading through his texts and realizing that the reason they pushed their one-year anniversary dinner is not because he was in the studio, but because he was with another woman! Bad Drake! Tyra chews him out, then smashes cheesecake in his face. I think we're supposed to be on Drake's side (all the white people in the restaurant are very disturbed", but if you were dating drake and he cancelled your one-year anniversary dinner and rescheduled it at a Cheesecake Factory of all places, you'd be pissed too. Of course, Drake has the lyric "You know I love to go there," so maybe it's sweet.
The back half of the video features OVO signee OB O'Brien as the new manager of a strip club, and it's hard to tell if he's a sobering character or used for comedic effect, but either way, Beyoncé is watching somewhere, laughing at the idea that anyone ever considered someone could do a music video as good as well as she can.
It's a fine video. Did it need to be 12 minutes long? Under no circumstances. But it's worth it to see Drake get cheesecake in his face and red wine poured all over his head and still deliver some verses.
