CelebrityYour First Look at Shia LaBeouf as John McEnroe Is Incredible
If the film is anything as good as this photo, we're in for a treat.
Since he showed up at Cannes wearing the same curly cue 'do he had as a child on Even Stevens, the anticipation has been building for Shia LaBeouf's upcoming role as notorious tennis star John McEnroe in the film McEnroe vs. Borg. Since then, Shia's been spotted reading McEnroe's autobiography, hitting up tennis courts for practice, and now, finally, in the full Johnny Tennis get-up while filming, headband and all. As expected, the result are mwah, with all of the "hard at work actor" faces one could possibly hope for.
The film, as well as the upcoming Oscar buzz-y film American Honey (in which Shia plays a lawless, rat tail-sporting magazine salesmen), should be the perfect opportunity for LaBeouf to begin his comeback into the Hollywood spotlight. In a recent Variety profile, the 30-year-old actor admitted to struggles with alcohol which fueled some of his misbehavior over the past few years, most famously when he drunkenly disrupted a performance of Cabaret in New York City. "I’m learning how to distill my ‘crazy’ into something manageable, that I can shape and deliver on the day," he said in the piece.
But those short-shorts spell redemption. And we're ready to have LaBeouf on the big screen once again.
