The latest peek reveals a familiar story with a grittier edge.

If you've been suffering through the Olympics just waiting for the drop of the new Rogue One: A Star Wars Story trailer, you can finally experience that sweet, sweet high. The latest trailer for the anthology film—which serves as a prequel to the entire series—arrived Thursday, and it's jam-packed with goodies.

Whoa, Rogue One Really Is a War Movie in the Star Wars UniverseEntertainmentWhoa, Rogue One Really Is a War Movie in the Star Wars Universe

The trailer gives us great glimpses (and sounds) of Forest Whitaker's British-y accent, Diego Luna's sidekicky Cassian Andor, and of course, more badassery from Felicity Jones' Jyn Erso. The movie certainly feels like a Star Wars tale, especially because we kind of know the outcome this time around. The idea of a mismatched group of people coming together to fight the Empire isn’t exactly a novel one in the Star Wars universe, but it's almost always fun as hell.

However, Rogue One certainly seems grittier than previous galactic battles we've watched. This isn't a Jedi movie, and our characters seem more grounded in a movie that appears to be shot more like a literal war than the balletic lightsaber battles of yesteryear.

What the trailer leaves out is also interesting—we're still waiting for good looks of Mads Mikkelsen (Hannibal), Riz Ahmed (The Night Of) and others from the loaded cast (though there's a tiny glimpse of Ahmed at the end). The new trailer does end with a money shot of Darth Vader, whose heavy breathing more or less encapsulates our anticipation for the film. Rogue One comes out this December.
