MoviesWatch Sully Sullenberger Nail His Tom Hanks Impression
The famed airline pilot starred in the fake biopic Hanks on Kimmel—and you know, he wasn't half bad.
Tom Hanks is becoming something of a biopic thot. A few years after playing Captain Phillips in Captain Phillips, he will play Sully Sullenberger in the film Sully. Both movies, of course, are based on transportations gone awry, though for very different reasons. Though Hanks lends his serious-ass gravitas to these biopics (Hanks is the only way to get people to nod solemnly at a movie called "Sully"), it is slightly funny Hollywood has only one go-to guy when they need someone to play an average, middle-aged white dude encountering an extraordinary circumstance in the air or sea.
Thursday night, Jimmy Kimmel turned the tables on Hanks, debuting a trailer for a new biopic titled, well, Hanks. And the star of the faux-film is the real-life Sully Sullenberger. Start the trailer for the ridiculous wig, stay for the surprisingly decent impression.
