MoviesWatch Out, Here Comes Jared Leto as Andy Warhol
Leto is starring in and producing a Warhol biopic
It's been a while since we were able to say "Jared Leto" without saying "Suicide Squad" in the same breath. The whole last year has been a bombardment of stories about Leto's method acting, like an email list you definitely didn't sign up for. Now, unsurprisingly, Leto is ready to move on (can we blame him? Suicide Squad was bad) but where someone else would maybe turn down the intensity a few notches, you can count on Leto to ramp it on up. In this case, he's to star in an Andy Warhol biopic as Warhol himself. He's diving deep into the waters of fame, and you better believe he's hoping to emerge with another Oscar.
In the early stages, there isn't so much known about the plot of the movie other than it's being adapted from a Warhol biography by The Sopranos and Boardwalk Empire writer Terence Winter. No other co-stars have been announced, and the film will be produced by Leto as well. Knowing Leto, it's probably going to be an indulgent, colorful, juicy profile of the man famous for painting of American icons, creating art studio The Factory, managing the Velvet Underground, and saying, "In the future, everyone will be world-famous for fifteen minutes." Knowing Leto, it's also going to be a little batshit crazy.
The real question is whether or not Leto will continue his method acting to prepare for this movie. Sure, we can definitely expect that white-blonde hair, but other than that, we can only guess. Will Leto start carrying around a camera? Do his own paintings of modern items of consumerism, like iPhones? Will he choose his own Edie Sedgwick-esque muse? Will it be Margot Robbie? So many questions that can only be answered by time, but we can definitely expect some strong style choices and a few surprises.
