MoviesOscar Isaac and Christian Bale Are Two Sides of a Love Triangle in The Promise's New Trailer
Isaac and Bale star in the film set against the backdrop of the Armenian Genocide.
Oscar Isaac, Christian Bale, and Charlotte Le Bon are the stars of The Promise, which now has a trailer after its debut at the Toronto Film Festival. Isaac stars (with a convincing accent!) as an Armenian medical student, while Le Bon plays an Armenian woman born in France and Bale an American journalist living in Paris. The film follows the trio of beautiful people as they are embroiled in a love triangle during the start of the Armenian Genocide.
As far as steamy, period-piece rom-drams go, this trailer hits all the marks: appalling acts of violence, "nothing to see here" old guy, brief glimpse at a passionate love scene, and thick-ass tension between our love trianglers. Bale's character seems like a bad guy for the first half of the trailer, but seems to have some redeeming qualities as well?! I have no clue what happens in the movie, but at this point I'm rooting for Isaac and his soft, buttery face to win the woman.
The film is directed by Terry George, who also helmed Hotel Rwanda and Reservation Road. The Promise doesn't have a release date, but it's expected to arrive later in 2016.
