CelebrityTwo Unexpectedly Cool Color Combinations Worth Trying This Fall
Rami Malek is inching closer and closer to 2016 style-god status. With the help of his stylist, Ilaria Urbinati, he’s knocked it out of the park at practically every event he’s attended this summer, whether he’s wearing a full-on suit or low-key vacation shirt and trousers. The secret to his success? In part, his un-boring use of color. Classic, well-fitting clothes in interesting color combinations is just a formula you can never go wrong with. Here, two such combinations to borrow from the actor and why they work.
Blush + Green + Black
ICYMI: You have society’s permission to wear pink. We especially like dusty, faded out shades of the hue, and Malek’s shirt is as pale as it gets. The softness there let him go a little bolder with his pants, which are turquoise green. Any rich shade of green would work here though; from emerald to forest to army. Anchoring those two bold moves with solid black accessories is a smart way to finish the look; it keeps everything from feeling too all over the place.
Navy + Olive + Cranberry
Layering jewel tones might seem like a Liberace-level move but when they’re not super saturated, it’s easier to pull off. We love the way this combo gives the navy suit a whole new spin, but we can see an athleisure version of this outfit working too. Something to take note of is that one element in the look is patterned (in this case, the tie). Layering too many different-color solids can be tricky.
