NBASteph Curry Got Blocked by a Teen
A tough summer for the reigning MVP continues.
Sometimes it's hard to remember that Steph Curry is coming off of one of the best seasons in NBA history. Instead, his last few months have been defined by terrible sneakers and the Warriors' epic Finals collapse, which has risen to meme status. (Did you know the Warriors blew a 3-1 lead in the NBA Finals?) Well, it turns out that Steph's no good, very bad summer is continuing, because while playing in a scrimmage in Taiwan, he got locked up on D and then got his shot blocked by 17-year-old Gian Mamuyac.
Now in Steph's defense, it's not like Mamuyac is some random high schooler. Dude played for the Philippines U18 team, so he can play. But still: locking down the MVP and blocking his signature shot? Not a bad way to make a name for yourself. There are a couple of silver linings for Steph. First, it was initially reported that Steph asked to replay the final seconds and then sank the shot. That would be a very bad look. Luckily for Curry, it came out that that's not what happened. A local celebrity in attendance asked them to play the last seconds again, which tells me being a celebrity in Taiwan means you have a lot of power. The other good thing that Steph has going for him is that it wasn't long ago that LeBron got scored on by Bill Hader.
As Steph saw first hand, LeBron bounced back, I have a feeling that "Chef Curry" will too.
