The Most Beautiful Girl in Nigeria provides a platform for young, intelligent ladies to stand in as ambassadors for Nigeria on an international scale. The 30th anniversary edition of the Most Beautiful Girl In Nigeria pageant is out!
That’s right, Silverbird presents another edition of one Africa’s most prestigious and longest running events-the Most Beautiful Girl in Nigeria pageant, fondly nicknamed- MBGN. As no pageant was held in 2016, the current title-holder is still psychology student Unoaku Anyadike who represented Anambra in 2015, and her platform is Endometriosis.
MBGN started out as Miss Universe Nigeria but in 1986 it was re-branded and renamed the Most Beautiful girl in Nigeria (MBGN) pageant. The Most Beautiful girl in Nigeria pageant was created by Silverbird Entertainment and over the years has maintained its distinctive style and refined taste. With over 23years in existence; it is the most recognized and consistent beauty pageant in Nigeria.
The Most Beautiful Girl in Nigeria pageant has produced winners that have excelled in all walks of life both in Nigeria and internationally. The first winner Lynda Chuba was also crowned Miss Africa that same year. Hon. Lynda Chuba Ikpeazu is presently a member of The Nigerian National Assembly.
In 2001 the MBGN made history, producing the first ever Miss World of Black race, Agbani Darego. She went on to become an International model for L’Oreal. She presently owns her line of denim wears called ‘AD by Abgani Darego’. In 2005, there was another ground breaking moment as the MBGN 2005; Omowunmi Akinnifesi went on to win the Miss Tourism International title after representing Nigeria in Ukraine. She is presently an Environmental Ambassador for the Lagos State Government in Nigeria.
Every year, one winner was chosen to represent Nigeria in all International Pageants but in 2007 the show was revamped to produce five winners who go on to represent Nigeria in several international pageants around the world.

The 30th anniversary edition would take place on Friday, September 15th at the prestigious Eko Hotel In Victoria Island Lagos, where MBGN 2015 Unoaku Anyadike would crown her successor at the end of the event.
MBGN registration forms are still available for 5,000 NGN at all Silverbird locations in Nigeria or at Occasions and Events store, Silverbird Galleria; 133 Ahmadu Bello Way, Victoria Island Lagos, Nigeria.
To qualify to register for MBGN, here are the criteria:
- Participants must be above 18years of age.
- Nigerian by birth
- Have a minimum educational qualification of a secondary school certificate.
The winner gets a brand new car and the chance to represent Nigeria at the Miss World pageant. Miss World 2017, will be the 67th edition of the Miss World pageant, it will be held on 18 November 2017 at the Crown of Beauty Theatre, Sanya, China PR. Stephanie Del Valle of Puerto Rico will crown her successor at the end of the event.
The first runner up also represents Nigeria at the Miss Universe pageant. Miss Universe 2017 will be the 66th Miss Universe pageant. Iris Mittenaere of France will crown her successor at the end of the event.
