TVHillary Clinton Probably Regrets Agreeing to Read Some Trump Quotes on Kimmel
Some of us can go in hard on Trump; others of us are running for president.
Hillary Clinton's latest stop on the campaign trail was a sit-down with Jimmy Kimmel on Monday night, where… well, I guess you could say everything started out fine.
She talked about, among other things, her debate strategy against Donald Trump. (She said she will draw on her elementary-school experience.) She also put those nasty health conspiracies to rest by opening a jar of pickles. But then Kimmel asked Clinton if she could read some Trump quotes with a straight face, and the mildly funny game quickly took a dark turn.
There was already something a little off about having Clinton read Trump quotes in the first place, and it's surprising she even agreed to the bit. The segment started out at about the height of its comedic value, with Clinton reading quotes such as when it's right to apologize and Trump claiming to have broken the glass ceiling for women in construction. Then things got extremely awkward, extremely quickly when Clinton began reading a quote about how to improve The View, which included a description of Rosie O'Donnell, who Trump would fire, as "fat" and "ugly."
Clinton was clearly uncomfortable (so was everyone, really) and tried to pivot to a hokey campaign line (Wouldn't you rather have a "you're hired" president than a "you're fired" president?) before pulling out one more quote. Only the next one was so bad, Clinton refused to read it outright.
"I've said if Ivanka weren't my daughter, perhaps I'd be dating her," Kimmel read in her stead.
This election can't end fast enough.
