MoviesHere's Exactly When to Expect Another Bad Boys Movie in Your Life
Will Smith and Martin Lawrence's third outing now has a title and a release date.
It's been many years since Will Smith last ran through the streets of Miami with his shirt off, and we'll have to wait nearly two more years to see him do it again. The Fresh Prince and Martin Lawrence have already committed to returning for a third Bad Boys movie, and now the film finally has a title—Bad Boys for Life—and a release date—Jan. 12, 2018.
That release date means the third entry in the franchise will come out nearly 13 years after the second—a period of time roughly equivalent to the length of Bad Boys II. Seriously, I love Bad Boys II, but that movie did not need to be almost two-and-a-half-hours long. BBFL (YEAH, WE'RE ABBREVIATING IT) was originally scheduled for next summer, but production has been pushed back to accommodate Smith, who's now consistently making movies again. (Conversely, Lawrence hasn't been in a movie since 2011's Big Momma's House: Like Father, Like Son, and he's probably ready to start filming at the end of this blog post.)
Even if you have to wait a little bit longer for this movie, you should be hyped. Joe Carnahan is taking the reins from director Michael Bay, which hopefully means the movie has four fewer explosions and is 35 minutes shorter. But a shirtless Smith and Lawrence’s paranoia (and hopefully a return of Gabrielle Union!) already have BBFL well on its way to being a hit.
