It’s not everyday you get in the company of “only models”, where everyone around you are either professional models, new faces, model agencies, once-a-model, and eventually fashion designers. This is the company you must have found yourself if you attended the just concluded Fashion Forward Seminar.
Organised by FCDA – Fashion for Change and Development in Africa in conjunction with IBCNL – International Business Consortium Nigeria Limited, the seminar was indeed conceptualised for models and aspiring models to get things right before starting and for the existing to do some re-analysis. The audience consisting of almost only models, and friends was entirely attentive to all the speakers as they inspire, instruct, correct, advice, educate, and encourage the listeners. Teaching on how to live a model life, package well, project good conduct, increase self esteem, make a business out of modeling, well branding, and how to walk-the-walk. Also word was pushed out to fashion designers on why they black-models-matters and should be used more often on the runways.
Ashley Chew closed the speakers’ segment by discussing how the black-models-matters got her “in trouble” in the first place, and how she was able to impact the fashion world with her positive perspective of black models.
Video of the seminar will soon be available and then you can see what you missed. In the meantime, here are pictures of backstage, front stage, red carpet, speakers and the fashion show that followed afterwards.
