TVMatt Damon and Jimmy Kimmel Continued TV's Best Fake Feud at the Emmys
Damon wins the latest round with a perfectly timed Good Will Hunting joke.
Matt Damon and Jimmy Kimmel have been embroiled in one of TV's longest running dramas, and their never-ending war of words (and sometimes songs) continued Sunday night at the Emmys. Damon popped up for a quick cameo at television’s signature awards show, taunting Kimmel after the late-night host lost to John Oliver for Best Variety Talk Series. Damon, casually strolling on stage while chowing down on an apple, feigned ignorance about who won the award, forcing Kimmel to re-live the embarrassment of losing while hosting the show.
The bit was vintage Kimmel and Damon, who've teamed up for numerous jabs at each other over the years, though Damon is usually the butt of the joke. This time, Damon got his revenge—not only by making Kimmel a victim of some pity applause, but also by hitting Kimmel (and his mom!) with a “them apples” joke. I'm glad Kimmel lost, because otherwise this bit may have never seen the light of day.
