MusicHear a Clip From Drake's Smooth-Ass Dad's Smooth-Ass R&B Album
You might know Drake's dad by his famous son, Drake. But if you were a true diehard Drake fan—or just a fan of Drake's "Worst Behavior" music video, in which Drake's dad and Drake's dad's mustache steal the show—then you'd know the downright buttery Dennis Graham.
Graham is something of a legend in Memphis—where he's from, and where little Drake used to spend summers after making the 15-hour drive with Dad from Toronto—and on Instagram. He shows up on tour with Drake, and shows up in photos with Snoop Dogg, DJ Khaled, and once-famous-now-infamous Cleveland Browns players.
And now, he has teamed up with Jimmy Iovine's son Jaime to put out an R&B album. TMZ got its hands on a clip of the song "Kinda Crazy."
Despite being in his 60s, this move makes sense (sort of) for Graham, a longtime musician. According to him, James Brown gave him his first set of drums. Graham was drumming on an overturned metal tub on a Memphis street when James Brown, on a hotel balcony nearby, asked the young Graham to come over, before demanding that the drummer in his band bequeath Graham his drumset. He eventually went on to play in Jerry Lee Lewis's band.
It seems he's moving over to the more baby-making-friendly genre that his son frequents. And with that combination of that voice, that suit, those moves, and those clouds, it's clear son Drake, while more famous, probably still loses to Pops in a game of Who's Smoother?
