MusicDrake Fires Back at Kid Cudi With an Aggressively Nerdy Joke
Sometimes no response is the best response.
Both Kanye West and Drake have now responded to a fed-up Kid Cudi, who went on a long Twitter rant yesterday against rap artists with multiple writers for every song—calling out West and Drizzy specifically. While Ye kind of buried Cudi with a quick aside during the Tampa leg of his Saint Pablo tour, Drake opted to channel that one co-worker who catches on to trends about four months late for his clap-back.
Performing in Oakland on his own Summer Sixteen tour, Drake paraphrased the O.T. Genasis hit "Cut It" in response to Cudi, saying on stage—I shit you not—"boy you getting way too high, you need to cud-it."
Typically, when someone is criticizing you for not being original in your work, using someone else's song to insult them doesn't seem like the right way to go. Drake perhaps would have been better served either a) not punching down or b) having one of the cooler-than-Drake people he’s been bringing onstage do the dirty work for him. At least he didn't use a meme this time, though.
