Do You Have An Accidental Mullet?

HairDo You Have An Accidental Mullet?

Mark Wahlberg has been growing out his hair, presumably for his role in Transformers: The Last Knight, and it’s been looking pretty good. A little bit ‘70s, a little bit surf brah, and certainly more interesting than the nothing-to-see-here cut he usually rocks. But it’s starting to cross over into mullet territory, which can happen during the grow-out process if you aren’t careful. Too much grooming in the front, too much free-spirited curl in the back, and suddenly you’re in Billy Ray Cyrus territory.

Bottom line: You’ve got to keep trimming the back of your hair while you wait for the shorter sections grow out. And if you aren’t ultimately looking for man-bun length strands, and you just want skater-length hair, you’ve got to find that sweet spot between messy long and He-Man long. That means visiting your barber or hair stylist every 4 weeks or so, just as you would with a high-maintenance fade, and asking them to teach you how to style it at home. Because even a perfectly respectable medium-length haircut can look like a mullet if you sweep product through your hair in the wrong way.

This might seem like a lot of work, but it's not. And if Jaden Smith can take the time to wear $5,000 worth of jewelry in his dreads, then you can make sure you don’t have a mullet.
