Warri-based Fashion House “PENDO” Storms Africa International Fashion Week
Warri-based fashion house PENDO displayed an eclectic collection at last week’s edition of the Africa International Fashion Week held at D’Venue event center in Lekki, Nigeria.
The eponymous collection, designed by the snazzily dressed sartorialist Pendo Bello, was favorably received by the enthused guests in attendance. Eclectic in its delivery, the PENDO brand displayed an uncommon collage of both harmonious and incongruous colors which made for a diverse pallet for the young designer. Based in Warri, Pendo Bello says this about his collection:
“This collection as with all my previous collections exudes that uniqueness in style, as the wearer of each piece stands out. It’s simply Pendo”.
This is evident in the way his brand evokes comparisons with some well-known brands further across the Atlantic. Tasteful in design, and simple in its finishing, PENDO Designs could fit seamlessly in Lagos, Luanda, London or Los Angeles. This brand is not defined by a particular culture, but rather it strives to be a borderless brand that can be mass marketed across disparate communities with different tastes. However, the PENDO team is proudly Nigerian, and aims to represent Nigeria at the highest level of fashion. “We hope that one day, a Nigerian fashion house can become a household name just like any other brand that you might find in a department store in Europe, Asia or the US”, says the Managing Partner of PENDO.
