Story

Following several years of a fast paced international corporate career, Joanna Maxham dreamt to embrace her fascination with art, fashion and all things creative. She got her feet wet by experimenting with scarves and jewelry, but discovered her true calling after designing her first handbag. In 2009, she dedicated herself fully to this endeavor and in 2011 the JOANNA MAXHAM line was launched. Joanna honed her design and construction skills by working hand in hand with Italian artisans, and chose to collaborate with a small, European atelier with over 35 years of experience to develop her collection. This intimate setting of traditional craftsmanship played an integral role in bringing to life and nurturing Joanna’s vision to deliver a luxurious combination of fresh shapes, modern style and utility known as JOANNA MAXHAM handbag. Since its launch in 2011, JOANNA MAXHAM handbags were featured on TV shows such as “Girls” and “Goodwife”, and have been recognized by press both nationally and internationally, including Top 100 Best Bags by Vogue UK.
