Adidas’s Latest NMD City Sock Will Make You Look Like a Futuristic Badass Ninja

(That's a good thing.)

If long queues and instant sell-outs are any indication, Adidas's NMD sneaker has been more successful than perhaps even Adidas could have predicted. When it first debuted late last year, we pondered if it was the best Adidas sneaker of all-time. In the GQ world, the Ultra Boost still remains the crown jewel of the Adidas line-up (there just aren't enough Yeezys in existence to make it a contender), but at the end of the day, it's a running sneaker. In terms of kicks built purely for day-to-day life, the NMD has struck a cord with a younger customers who long ago became tired of scooping up retro styles. Which means the NMD is the new classic for an entire generation of plugged-in sneakerheads. The latest hype-generating NMD is this City Sock "Core Black," which ditches laces altogether in favor of an incredibly modern, ninja-like aesthetic.

That's right, sneaker collectors don't even need laces anymore. And frankly, in a modern world where dating happens virtually and, despite technology, actually buying sneakers has become harder than ever, who has time to lace up their kicks? But like a lot of ultra-rare sneakers these days, the NMD "Core Black" is stealthy even in its release. Adidas Originals has yet to announce a formal release date, but know when they do, one might need to be an actual ninja to finesse the purchase.
