Style10 Essentials: Dr. Woo, Tattoo Artist to the Stars
The coolest thing in the tattoo universe is currently happening in a tiny little shop on Sunset Boulevard called the Shamrock Social Club. And the man pulling everyone from Cara Delevinge to Drake into his singular orbit is an absurdly talented artist named Dr. Woo, whose pencil-fine needlework has no business looking as good as it does on human skin. (Example A, Example B, Example C… etc.) And since this is GQ, and since we appreciate cool people with an eye for cool-ass shit, we reached out to Woo for Ink Week and asked him to talk about some of the stuff in his life that he can't live without.
Saint Laurent Leather Motorcycle Jacket
"It’s the best-fitting jacket I own. I customized it by painting my kids’ name in threading on it. It’s my everyday go-to jacket.
Kiehl’s Musk Oil
"When I first met my wife Jayme, this was what she wore—yet she wouldn’t tell me what it was until years later. It doesn’t smell feminine or masculine, it’s just neutral and fresh. It's my daily. I have to have it with me wherever I go."
Old Vintage Dart Board
"This big wood cut out of an Indian chief's head helps me stay on point. I strain my eyes around the clock, so it’s a nice way to relax."
Parabellum Weekend Bag
"Perfect for travel/short trips. It’s made out of a nice buffalo hide that will patina nicely."
Thierry Lasry Sunglasses
"I like his craftsmanship."
Balenciaga Chelsea Boots
"Perfect for casual and dress. I can wear them with pretty much anything in my closet."
Gunner Foxx Hats
"Each one is custom handmade for my head. He’s the most authentic, unique hat-maker. With most hat styles being so readily available, I like mine to stand out."
"It’s one of the coolest understated cars out there that keeps me feeling like I’m on an adventure. It’s refreshing to live in L.A. and not drive an obvious car."
"They're a cult jewelry company from Japan. This is handmade silver that’s highly collectable."
Schaeffer’s Garment Hotel Denim
"These jeans are made-to-order denim derived from the best denim mills in Japan."
“My third child is our pup Muddy. He is an essential part of my daily routine. We take a long walk every night after work, nice way to move around after sitting down working all day.”
